Until recently, I had been living overseas and for family reasons, I needed to return to Australia, as such this weeks challenge was quite apt.
Living and teaching in Penghu, Taiwan brings many photo opportunities. The other day my kids celebrated the American Thanksgiving holiday. Parents shared moments with their children, children shared moments with each other. And in those moments, light filtered into the rooms bathing those beautiful people in the warm, afternoon light.
I’ve had the pleasure to photograph a beautiful young girl named Isobella on a number of occasions. She called me recently and asked if I could do another shoot with her and added I should be prepared for the unexpected.
When I arrived, she was in full makeup and her look was definitely unexpected and I felt quite apt for this week’s Photo Challenge.
Here’s the expected.

And here is the unexpected.

On November 5th, I will be heading off to discover new horizons as I shall be spending the next 12 months on Penghu, an island off the coast of Taiwan. This week’s theme therefore was quite fitting, for I’ll be bidding farewell to my current horizons that are familiar and comforting. And I shall be also saying goodbye to friends and family, and someone who falls into both of those categories is my niece, Kate: she is new to WordPress, take a look at her first Photo Challenge. I think she’s amazing.

Most of us are creatures of habit, and although many will say we are not (myself included), certain morning rituals still tend to shape our day.
And my ritual? Every morning the aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills my home and blends beautifully with scent of burning incense.
It is the latter that is the subject of this week’s Good Morning Photo Challenge, for as I sat sipping my coffee, spirals of scented smoke danced beautifully within the morning light. A good morning indeed…
Wonderful moments happen when time is shared with wonderful friends. I had such a moment last Sunday: great conversations shared with a dear friend as we listened to other friends (Dubarray) share their music with the world. Whilst the images are grainy, the lighting that saturated the stage was apt for this weeks theme…
Last week I did a shoot where my model, Isobella wanted to recreate a particular character. On seeing this weeks Photo Challenge, Inside, I thought some of the images I did on that shoot would be representative of the theme. If you’re interested in taking at look at other images from Isobella’s shoot, they can be viewed at jenniferhammerphotography
What lies beyond your own space? Different faces, places, sights and sounds. This weeks Photo Challenge was apt for me as I have been travelling of late, gone beyond my own space and whilst there found beautiful faces, spaces, sights and sounds that lay far beyond my own.
Here are a few…
