A beautiful Sunday with my five favourite beings…
for the love of dogs, travel and plant – based food…
How often do we take the time to strip away what can be defined as difficult times, only to reveal a different truth to the one we thought we knew?
Yes, that sentence is quite complex. But think about it. We can often think we’ve been dealt a tough hand, a bad deal, a horrible time.
Define it how you will, but it comes down to thinking life has not always been kind.
This may well be true in part.
But look deeply. Look hard. What do you really find?
Personally. At this moment, as I sit here listening to music and lolling through old images on the 23rd of May, 2014. I come to a realisation about life.
I’ve had an amazing life.
I’m truly one of the lucky ones.
I’ve travelled. I’ve lost. I’ve cried. I’ve laughed.
I’ve LOVED. And I’ve been LOVED.
What more could I want?
Here’s a few of my favourite images, taken by me and for me that depict a great life.
Life truly is amazing!
Embrace it!
Always…
On November 5th, I will be heading off to discover new horizons as I shall be spending the next 12 months on Penghu, an island off the coast of Taiwan. This week’s theme therefore was quite fitting, for I’ll be bidding farewell to my current horizons that are familiar and comforting. And I shall be also saying goodbye to friends and family, and someone who falls into both of those categories is my niece, Kate: she is new to WordPress, take a look at her first Photo Challenge. I think she’s amazing.

Most of us are creatures of habit, and although many will say we are not (myself included), certain morning rituals still tend to shape our day.
And my ritual? Every morning the aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills my home and blends beautifully with scent of burning incense.
It is the latter that is the subject of this week’s Good Morning Photo Challenge, for as I sat sipping my coffee, spirals of scented smoke danced beautifully within the morning light. A good morning indeed…
Wonderful moments happen when time is shared with wonderful friends. I had such a moment last Sunday: great conversations shared with a dear friend as we listened to other friends (Dubarray) share their music with the world. Whilst the images are grainy, the lighting that saturated the stage was apt for this weeks theme…
Last week I did a shoot where my model, Isobella wanted to recreate a particular character. On seeing this weeks Photo Challenge, Inside, I thought some of the images I did on that shoot would be representative of the theme. If you’re interested in taking at look at other images from Isobella’s shoot, they can be viewed at jenniferhammerphotography
Once again, I had the pleasure of doing a shoot with the beautiful Isobella. This was quite different from our last (lingerie) shoot as Isobella wanted to recreate the character Ellie from The Last of Us, and enter the images into a CosPlay competition.
These are the results…
Dogs can speak. Just as humans use sign language, I believe so do our 4-legged friends, but instead of using their paws, they use their ears. And if you take the time to listen to their ears, you’ll see they actually speak volumes.
With that in mind I decided I would write a post about doggy ear language. On deciding, I thought who better to demonstrate doggy sign language than my beloved Stanley? However there was only one problem with that decision: I needed Stanley to cooperate, but he was too busy sniffing, sleeping, catching a few winter rays or stopping to chat to one of his friends on our daily walk.
So please excuse the quality of the images, it was not an easy task to manipulate leads, IPhones etc to get that perfect shot. But I was persistent and did manage to capture a little of how his dogship communicates. Here goes, with a little caption ‘translation’…
And a final note: as Erica says; dogs definitely make everything better. ❤
My 15 year-old son Rob took his camera, his bike and his friend to the beach today: these are the images I found in the camera…
Yes I am a proud Mum, but I think his images are brilliant. And because of the ‘ripples’ he captured within his images, I felt they were fitting for Ailsa’s travel theme this week.
I found out something interesting after picking up my son from a day of bodyboarding. Hitchhiking is possible when out catching a few waves. I kid you not.

This little piece of interesting information came to light when I collected my son from a different beach from the one I had dropped him off at earlier in the day.
So I learnt hitchhiking is not only confined to our roadways, obviously it is also common practice in the surf!
