Wonderful moments happen when time is shared with wonderful friends. I had such a moment last Sunday: great conversations shared with a dear friend as we listened to other friends (Dubarray) share their music with the world. Whilst the images are grainy, the lighting that saturated the stage was apt for this weeks theme…

taking time…
I’ve been so busy of late, busy trying to find a path in the road I travel. And in doing so, I’ve not found time to browse through WordPress and momentarily step into the lives of other wordpressers.
But that’s ok, they are still there and I like the idea that I can tap into their worlds, drink in their words, life and images, and in doing so, reconnect. That’s comforting.
I have however, had time to pick up my camera to shoot off a few images: a lingerie shoot for a friend who owns a boutique.
In doing so, I’ve taken the time to do what I love : and I love taking photographs…
Dogs can speak, just ‘listen’ to their ears…
Dogs can speak. Just as humans use sign language, I believe so do our 4-legged friends, but instead of using their paws, they use their ears. And if you take the time to listen to their ears, you’ll see they actually speak volumes.
With that in mind I decided I would write a post about doggy ear language. On deciding, I thought who better to demonstrate doggy sign language than my beloved Stanley? However there was only one problem with that decision: I needed Stanley to cooperate, but he was too busy sniffing, sleeping, catching a few winter rays or stopping to chat to one of his friends on our daily walk.
So please excuse the quality of the images, it was not an easy task to manipulate leads, IPhones etc to get that perfect shot. But I was persistent and did manage to capture a little of how his dogship communicates. Here goes, with a little caption ‘translation’…
And a final note: as Erica says; dogs definitely make everything better. ❤
A boy and his camera: the results…
My 15 year-old son Rob took his camera, his bike and his friend to the beach today: these are the images I found in the camera…
Yes I am a proud Mum, but I think his images are brilliant. And because of the ‘ripples’ he captured within his images, I felt they were fitting for Ailsa’s travel theme this week.
Home…

I’ve been away.
Away exploring another land, another culture, another way of life. It was beautiful, exciting and challenging and shared with a dear friend. Yet I missed something I had never missed before.
I realised I needn’t look further afield to find beautiful, exciting and challenging. I had that.
And that is where I am now and I find myself smiling. For I am where I need to be. And it was here all along.
taking the time…

On a warm summer morning, with Stanley snoozing beside me, I’m taking the time to read some of the wonderful, informative and creative blogs here on WordPress: something I’ve not had time to do of late.
On reading, I remember why I should take the time.
WordPress a positive place, full of inspiration and a place that allows connection with so many people from many different backgrounds and people who I don’t know at all. But on reading, I feel as if I do.
It’s refreshing somehow…

Reading Edith’s write up on A sense of place has me thinking about my own place and how we often don’t see what is around us on a daily basis. I know I don’t sometimes.
Maybe I simply need to open my eyes a little wider as it’s become too familiar. Something it never was during my flying years when I was somewhat of a transient resident, filtering in and out, without seeing.
I’m heading to Malaysia next week to backpack through the highlands with a dear friend.
Maybe on my return my eyes will be wider and I will take the time to see…
Snapshots of Life…
I’ve not had much time to devote to WordPress of late for I’ve begun a new chapter or maybe I could say, snapshot of my life. After many, many years serving the masses in a silver tube, I’ve hung up my wings and entered the world of ESL teaching. And with that has come study, and lots of it. This teaching gig is tough, in some ways tougher than doing my journalism degree. Or maybe I’m just out of sync with study – need to retrain the brain.
But I did take some time yesterday to look at some snapshots, some snapshots of my life. I smiled, I laughed and I cried as I reminisced over special times with special people.
Have you ever stopped to look at the ‘snapshots’ of your life? Looked at images that evoked memories?
My snapshots?
My beautiful children, my amazing family, my incredible friends… I have been lucky to have lived an amazing life so far: travelled to incredible places, experienced irreplaceable moments and loved by beautiful people. Near front row seats at the World Cup, cocktails on a rooftop bar in Capetown, shaking hands with famous people who made a difference, safaris in Africa, white xmas’s,European holidays with my fabulous niece and sons and being able to say I love you to those I love.
Sometimes we think life can deal us a cruel hand: sometimes it does, but look closely at the snapshots, you’ll see that life is what it is: beautiful, sad, funny, frustrating, but mostly, it’s full of love.
To the amazing people who have made my lifes’ snapshots so far, so incredibly beautiful – Merry Christmas to you all and most of all, stay safe, stay happy and stay smiling for your snapshots… xoxo
Weekly Photo Challenge: Green
Renewal…
Renewal can evoke many thoughts and feelings. For me this weeks Photo Challenge theme brought about a time of reflection. I have renewed many aspects of my life of late and I have been refreshed and revitalised for having done so.
This challenge reminds me of time spent with my beautiful niece Kate, who is also my friend and travel partner. We took a trip to Europe together to renew and refresh from the rigours of our flying lives. We laughed, we cried, we were lost and we were found, but most of all, we renewed our beings along with our love and mutual respect for each other…
